Bob Coons is the owner of Southwest Home Innovations (SHI), a family-owned company built and run right here in Durango, Colorado, not a franchise or an out-of-area operator. He's the author of most of the articles, guides, and case studies you'll find on this site, and he's spent the last decade building SHI into the Four Corners region's trusted, truly local source for ice dam and water mitigation, working on homes across Durango, Bayfield, Pagosa Springs, Cortez, Mancos, and the New Mexico side of the border in Farmington and Aztec.

Bob also personally led SHI's introduction of Penntek polyurea concrete coatings to the region, and it's grown into a cornerstone of the business, equal in weight to SHI's gutter and ice dam work. Every year the crew transforms more garage floors, driveways, and patios across the Four Corners, and Penntek has become one of the products Bob and the team are proudest to put the SHI name behind.

Before SHI, Bob spent more than 30 years as a CPA in corporate America. After three decades behind a desk, running a gutter company sounded like the better second act, and a decade in, it still is. That accounting background shows up in how SHI operates today: disciplined, numbers-driven, and built on the EOS (Entrepreneurial Operating System) framework. SHI sets aside dedicated time every year as a team to revisit three core values, the same values the company hires, evaluates, and holds every team member to: Humble, Make It Better, and Cowboy Up! Building a culture around those values, and hiring to them, is something Bob considers one of the things he's most proud of at SHI.

Southwest Home Innovations is family-owned and family-run, and it stays that way. Bob's stepchildren, Cam Wiegert (Production Quality Manager & Client Advocate) and Katie Bay (Director of Operations), are already leading major parts of the company and are set to carry SHI into its next chapter, still based right here in the Four Corners.
