Stronger Than Epoxy and Ready for Real Life

Your floor has to survive a lot. Road salt, oil drips, high-altitude UV, hard freezes, and years of daily use all take a toll on bare concrete. Southwest Home Innovations installs Penntek pure polyurea concrete coatings across Southwest Colorado, the Western Slope, and Northwest New Mexico because Penntek is built to withstand it all.

Unlike epoxy, which can become brittle and lift away from the slab over time, Penntek polyurea is 4x more durable and flexible enough to move with the concrete through seasonal temperature swings. Toss in resistance to UV damage, oil, gas, grease, road salts, and magnesium chloride, and it's easy to see why Penntek sets a higher bar than most conventional coating systems.

Porch

A Coating That Understands This Region

Floor coatings in this region must answer specific questions. How will they perform through a hard freeze? What happens when monsoon runoff reaches a patio? Can the coating stand up to high-altitude sun, road salts, and the grime that comes in from mountain highways?

Penntek was engineered with exactly that kind of punishment in mind:

  • Freeze-Thaw Flexibility: Concrete shifts as temperatures change, and that movement can sometimes be dramatic. Penntek's polyurea system expands and contracts with the slab, which helps prevent the separation issues common with other coatings.

  • Cold-Weather Installation: We install Penntek year-round, including at temperatures as low as 35 degrees. That gives homeowners and businesses far more scheduling freedom in a region where colder conditions can rule out many epoxy systems.

  • UV Stability: High-altitude UV can degrade coatings that weren't formulated for outdoor or high-sun environments. Penntek's UV-stable topcoat helps preserve color and gloss, making it an excellent fit for patios, porches, and pool decks.

  • Chemical Resistance: Oil, gasoline, grease, road salts, and magnesium chloride from winter driving eventually find their way onto your garage floor. Penntek seals the surface so the same mess wipes up in minutes instead of leaving a permanent mark.

Choosing a floor coating in the Four Corners isn't the same as choosing one in a milder climate. The temperature swings are wider, the sun hits harder, and the roads get treated more aggressively.  Penntek earns its place in this part of the country because it was engineered for conditions like these, not just marketed toward them.

Residential Flooring

National Performance, Local Installation

Southwest Home Innovations is your exclusive source for Penntek Industrial Floor Coatings across the Four Corners. As a local, family-owned company, we install advanced pure polyurea systems for homeowners and businesses that want a floor that goes the distance.

Penntek is a national leader in floor-coating technology, with a reputation built on premium materials, rigorous product testing, and coatings that hold up where epoxy tends to struggle. What that means for you is access to one of the best floor coating systems available, installed by a crew that knows it well. We work exclusively with Penntek's certified process, which means the prep, application, and finishing steps all follow the system as designed.

The product is only as good as the installation behind it, and we take both seriously.

A Step-by-Step Look at Penntek Installation

The Penntek Process is built around three core priorities: Preparation, Product, and People. Most installations wrap up in as little as one day, but every step is intentional and designed to ensure the coating bonds properly, cures correctly, and stands strong over years of use.

From the first pass of the grinder to the final topcoat, here's what to expect:

Preparing the Slab

We’ll mechanically grind the concrete to open the surface and remove weak layers, contamination, old coating residue, and other material that can interfere with adhesion. We also address cracks, pits, and imperfections before coating begins.

Applying the Base Coat

Once the surface is ready, we’ll apply Penntek's polyurea base coat directly to the prepared slab. The base coat is mixed in controlled batches and spread evenly across the floor to create the foundation of the entire system.

Creating the Granite-Like Finish

After the base coat is applied, we’ll broadcast decorative color flakes into the wet coating. These flakes create the full-flake finish Penntek is known for, giving the floor a textured, granite-like look while helping conceal older staining and surface variation in the concrete.

Once the flakes cure into the base coat, we’ll scrape the surface with metal blades to remove loose material and create a more even finish.

Sealing the Floor

The clear topcoat locks in the flake layer and creates the final protective surface. We’ll apply it to the perimeter and vertical edges where needed, and to the full floor area using squeegees and rollers for even coverage.

This layer provides gloss, chemical resistance, mar resistance, and the kind of surface that makes Penntek so practical for garages, patios, shops, and commercial spaces alike.

Getting Back to Normal

After installation, the cure timeline is straightforward. You can step on the floor within 12 hours, bring smaller storage items, tools, and lighter belongings back after 24 hours, and park vehicles on the surface after 48 hours.

Give Your Floor Some Character

The Penntek Full Flake Evolution system comes in 14 color options, giving you plenty of room to match the finish to your garage, patio, shop, showroom, or commercial interior. The palette ranges from light, neutral blends to darker, more industrial looks.

The Chip Floor Finish has an orange peel texture that adds visual depth and improves traction underfoot. The finished surface resembles polished granite, but it's engineered as a high-performance coating rather than a decorative overlay.

During your estimate, we'll bring samples and walk you through every available option so you can see the colors up close before committing.

The Support Behind the Surface

Southwest Home Innovations backs residential Penntek installations with a Lifetime Residential Warranty supported by Penntek Industrial Coatings. That warranty is one of the core reasons homeowners choose Penntek over lower-cost options that may not stay reliable under Colorado and New Mexico conditions.

That warranty gives you confidence that the system was built to last. Southwest Home Innovations adds local accountability on top of it through our No Ghost Guarantee, which means we answer calls, follow through on commitments, and stay available long after the installation is complete. In a region where the climate puts real pressure on every surface, knowing who to call matters just as much as the product itself.

Southwest Home Innovations did a great job on our garage floor coating! It looks fantastic! And they were very patient as my concrete took a very long time to cure, but Southwest made sure that it was properly ready for the coating. And they came perfectly when they said that they would, communicated well throughout, and made sure that we were happy after the job was done. I really can’t recommend them more.
